I liked it enough that I then Purchased the Ref HD version for speaker correction at the desk and I still use the standard for the portable setup. Seriously, I prefer tracking with the cans on so again it becomes a moot point. I have no problem tracking on the studio monitors if I reduce the amount of accuracy and it still sounds much better the the prior product I was using. Depending on the accuracy of the correction it will cause some latency but you can change this with a slider on the UI. I was able to correct the speakers in about 15minutes and it had a very natural sound vs. I then purchased the speaker correction software. Really don't need the headphone correction for tracking so any latency is a moot point. That's Customer Service! Latency, not so much with the headphone correction and, IIRC, it can be changed. I mentioned this to the SonarWorks guys and next thing I knew was they released a modification so the stock correction curve could be modified by the user and I could now reduce the low end of the K240's. The K240's still had a little too much low end hype though. I didn't think the k701's could be any more clear/defined, in the mids, but they were.

Started with the headphone correction software for the AKG k701's and K240 studio. I bought into SonarWorks when they were first announced. Hi Zo, I Was an ARC and ARC2 user but never was satisfied with the slightly thin, hollow, harsh sound of it. Last but not least, Sonarworks support and service is Great! They respond quickly and are willing to Listen to their Customers, I have never had a bad experience with them. Also, If you use phones much, and have a set they offer a correction curve for, you really should give it a try also.

I did upgrade the Speaker correction software to the HD version and I can see some difference in the correction curves when taking more than 30 measurement points but I can't really hear enough difference to warrant the cost unless you find it on sale. Things sound defined and mixes translate as well as ARC2 did. It does fix my 125-250Hz issues yet does not thin out the mids as ARC2 did. When I first used it I noticed a big difference in the sound as it no longer sounds like it is thin, hollow, harsh, and highly filtered as ARC2 always did. I use to spend an entire morning setting up and doing a measurement session with ARC2. No templates and tedious moving things around to measure.

When I made the change over to Sonarworks I was blown away by the measurement process that only takes about 20 minutes total to do a Full measurement session.
The original ARC would allow this but not ARC2. If you have more than one set of monitors and want to have ARC2 on multiple buses with different correction curves you can't do it. I highly recommend both! Try the demo and use your ARC2 mic, I think you will like it! I made the initial change to Sonarworks because ARC2 only allows one instance using a different correction curve. I have not used ARC or ARC2 since I started using Sonarworks.
